French 1814 Model Garde Nationale à Cheval Helmet
French Resturation period Garde Nationale À Cheval, 1814-30 model officer’s helmet. This is of “deluxe” quality being all silver plated and with the fittings differing slightly from a standard model showing more details and being fully silver rather than the standard brass. The stamped front plate shows a crowned Fleur De Lys withing a laurel wreath. Scalloped embossed chin scales that are secured with two Fleur De Lys cockades, silk ties fragile. Plume holder to the left hand side of the skull. Stamped to the skull towards the back peak are two silver plate marks, showing a head and possibly workshops initials. Highly decorative crest retaining its original horse black hair mane. Interior is complete, having its leather and cotton liner with drawstring tie. This is an absolutely superb example.
