Louis XV Commode, Languedoc Region, 18th Century, Solid Cherry And Oak, Castres Region
Beautiful Louis XV commode in solid cherry and oak from Castres in the Tarn region of France. It rests on two front feet with scrolled, or "snail," feet and two rear feet with straight sections. Please note that these four feet have been replaced with old ones (see photos). The commode opens at the front with three large drawers in three rows. Each drawer has two pull handles and a bronze keyhole escutcheon; all of this is entirely original. The sides are decorated with three projecting panels, a distinctive type of construction used primarily by cabinetmakers in Castres. The whole piece is topped with a solid cherry wood surface featuring a subtle molding around its entire edge. The inside of each drawer has been completely lined with a pretty patterned fabric on a yellow background. A high-quality and very sturdy piece of furniture. Dimensions: Length 130 cm, Depth 63 cm, Height 108 cm. Shipping costs by carrier: please contact us.
