Hussar Officer's Sabre. Consulate / First Empire.

Brass hilt with remnants of gilding, single-branch molded guard, oval pommel with long tail; fluted baguette-shaped quillons; wooden grip with a small piece of wood missing under the branch, covered in leather and a double twisted copper wire. Curved blade with hollowed and sharp sides, oriental-inspired engraving of a hussar of a consulate gilded on a blued background; One side features a "Sun and flowering branch"; a large, full-length figure of a Turk; a floral motif and a gilt cartouche. The other side depicts three stars followed by a flowering branch; an oval medallion with a moon in the center; a floral motif, and a gilt cartouche. The back is flat with an engraving of the branch or flower and the signature of Solingen. The scabbard is in fine condition, made of embossed black leather with three mounts decorated with a zing-zang line. The throat has a striated rim. The asymmetrical iron chape is present. The weapon is 93.3 cm long; the blade is 83 cm long. In very good condition. See photos. France. Consulate/First Empire. With a certificate from my collection. Former expert of the Court of Appeal.
