Flintlock musket of a Horse Grenadier of the Imperial Guard. First Empire. This musket model was created in Thermidor Year XII, during the reorganization of the Imperial Guard; around 1808. Barrel, Year IX model, octagonal at the breech then round. All brass furniture with a buttplate specific to the Imperial Guard with a return depicting a flaming grenade, stamped with the "D" of the controller Deschasseaux. The furniture is held in place by steel springs. Stock in figured walnut, cheekpiece removed in accordance with regulations. Lockplate signed "Manufacture Impériale de Versailles" with a hallmark, corrected to Year IX model 1777. Iron bayonet lug and ramrod. France. First Empire, circa 1808. See photos for condition.
