Louis Marin. 1777. The Pleasure Of Education. Late 18th-century Frame.
Artist: Louis Marin Bonnet
Louis Marin Bonnet (1736-1793) was a renowned Parisian engraver who developed an engraving technique imitating pastels, adding gilt borders to the paper. The engraving presented here, "The Pleasure of Education," illustrates these two techniques: pastel and gilding. Since the late 19th century, it has been housed in a charming, fairly deep, late 18th-century frame (suitable for a painting), fitted with keys, and certainly regilded at that time. It is in very good condition.
