"Lucien Gautier: Paris, Place Du Chatelet "
Lucien Gautier (1850 - 1925) was a French engraver, born in Aix-en-Provence, a student of Gibert and Marius Reinaud, then in Paris of Léon Gaucherel. He joined the police in Paris where he organized a photographic service. At the same time, during his travels, he engraved panoramas. His favorite places were, however, Paris and Provence. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français. Here we have a view of the fountain on the Place du Chatelet, and the bridge leading to the Ile de la Cité. The engraving is signed and dated 1881.
