“igri” Mask, Igbo-afikpo People, Nigeria
Mask with a flat face and a long, pointed chin. Triangular eyes have been pierced and are surmounted by a domed forehead. The entire face is decorated with raised geometric lines painted in black, contrasting with the white of the face.
This type of very simple mask is called "Igri" and was used during the dry season to emphasize notions of virility.
