Beautiful oil on canvas depicting a young woman holding a cat in her arms. This charming painting, entitled "Young Woman and the Cat," was painted by Henri Laville and bears the artist's signature in the upper right corner. This painting is sold with a very fine Montparnasse frame. Two other paintings by the same artist are for sale in our gallery (see last photo). Henri Laville was born on February 7, 1916, in Bordeaux and died on December 27, 1995, at the age of 79. Deeply attached to his city, he entered the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts and was a laureate of the Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts of that same city. He was also a student at the Paris School of Fine Arts, having received a scholarship. A resident at the Casa Velázquez in Madrid, he was awarded a prize. He also received the Vermeil Medal from the City of Paris. Throughout his career, he was praised by numerous prominent figures who owned some of his works. Works by artists such as Michel Déon, Jean Chabanon (writer and art critic), Jean Cocteau, Georges Duhamel, Sacha Guitry, Raymond Charmet, etc. Some of his works have entered private collections, including those of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Sacha Guitry.
