Painting – Aviation Scene At Limoges-feytiat, 1935 – The Belle époque By Pierre Lavaurs
Artist: Pierre Lavaurs
A charming oil painting on panel depicting a lively scene around the Limousin Aero Club in Limoges-Feytiat in 1935. The work illustrates the atmosphere of early popular aviation, with several light aircraft soaring through the sky, while the public enjoys the terrace of the “Bar du Coup de Vent” located at the edge of the airfield. The composition, full of life and detail, also shows strollers, children playing, as well as trams and a hilly landscape in the background. The colorful palette and naive style evoke the festive and optimistic atmosphere of recreational aviation during the interwar period. The inscription “La belle époque – Limoges-Feytiat 1935” appears in the upper right corner. The work is signed in the lower right corner P. Lavaurs – de la Belle Époque. On the reverse of the painting is a handwritten dedication addressed to Pol Desselas, a leading pilot, evoking “the memory of happy times and flight in total freedom,” which reinforces its historical interest and direct link to the aeronautical community of the period.
