Bronze Sculpture 1900 - Marioton - 54 Cms

Artist: Eugène Marioton (1857-1933)
Gorgeous bronze sculpture with a brown patina depicting the "winner" (Vainqueur in french) a bare-chested athlete holding a bow and brandishing the laurels awarded to the winner, a quiver at his feet.

This famous sculpture by Eugène Marioton, titled on the base, bears his signature as well as the circular stamp of the foundry Siot Decauville (active from 1881 to 1926), renowned for the high quality of its bronzes. The number 1883 is also stamped on the base.

Unlike the vast majority of antique bronzes you will find for sale "as found," dull and dusty, this bronze, in excellent condition, has been fully cleaned and is now presented at its best, with a brilliant patina !
