Charming oil by Felix ZIEM corresponding to his "Barbizon" period around 1850, where he regularly went to the forest of Fontainebleau and became friends with Theodore ROUSSEAU and Jean-François MILLET.
Here we discover a peasant woman at the entrance to her half-timbered cottage in the forest.
Artworks from this period are difficult to find, unlike his views of Venice, which are abundant
Oil on paper, mounted on cardboard 22 x 18 cms (with 19th century gilded frame, approximately 32 x 28 cms)
Bears a monogram "Z" at the bottom right
Annotation "Ziem" on the reverse
Good general condition, painting recently cleaned (unvarnishing) which has regained its original colors, barely visible scratches near the right edge, in the middle
