Pietersz Gerrit Kam, son of Pieter Gerritsz Kam and Annetje van Poele, was a master merchant in 1674, established under the sign of the Three Barrels of Ash. He was recognized as a talented ceramist. In 1673, he married Jannetje Davits de Roo, with whom he had several children, including the renowned ceramists Pieter and David. The factory produced high-quality pieces, generally signed with Gerrit's monogram, and a large number of more common pieces bearing the shop's name.
