"the Watchman At The Fountain" Porcelain Group Mounted In Bronze
Artist: Paul-louis Cyfflé (d'aprés)
Important polychrome porcelain group with a continuous design, made after a model by Paul-Louis Cyfflé (1724-1806), "The Watchman at the Fountain." Made around 1890. A very fine model mounted in bronze. The artist's name appears in the 1898 catalogue of figures and groups from Toul-Bellevue, which specifies: "after the original molds created at the Toul pottery factory by Cyfflé, the famous modeler of the late 18th century." In very good condition, our group has a restoration on the Medici vase at the top of the column. Additional photos available upon request. I will provide the magazine "L'Objet d'Art" no. 549, in which an article is dedicated to it.
