Antique Gold And Garnet Ring – Roman Period
Antique Gold and Garnet Ring – Roman Period. This high-purity solid gold ring features a smooth, round band, characteristic of classic Roman jewelry. Its raised setting holds a round garnet cabochon, typical of the gemstones prized in Roman times. As you can see in the photos, the band is bent, a sign of the ravages of time. Diameter: 16 mm. Weight: 1.66 g. Period: 1st-3rd centuries AD. Formerly in a German private collection (before 2000), then in a London private collection, acquired in Belgium.
