Roman carnelian intaglio band ring in 22.6 karats gold (941 thousandths). Roman era ring in bright yellow gold centered with a bezel-set carnelian intaglio. The intaglio is engraved with a Christian motif revealing a cross, and perhaps a scale and/or a heart. The bezel setting holding the stone is enhanced with a fine beaded border. The entire mounting features a slightly irregular surface texture and wear scratches that mark its antiquity. Band ring, Roman era, 1st or 2nd century BC.
