After the medals of Jules Constant Peyre, made of heated wood pressed according to the patent of François Charles Lepage (1803-1868); patent registered in 1856.
The Bois Durci factory was patented in Paris in 1856 by François Lepage and was made by mixing very fine sawdust, usually ebony or rosewood, with albumen -the sticky substance found in blood or eggs- and combining the two in a steel mold under heat and pressure.
