Polish Terrestrial Globe

Warsaw, PPWK [Panstwowe Przedsiçbiorstwo Wydawnictw Kartograficznych], 1968-1972.
Large Polish educational globe, produced by Antoni Szymanek for the PPWK (Public Cartographic Publishing Company) and approved by the Ministry of Education on May 14, 1963, the globe was printed in Wrocław (West Slavery) and published in 1968 by the Warsaw State Cartographic Publishing Company (cartouche in Polish). In 1972, it was mounted on a wooden stand in a graduated plastic meridian circle at the Educational Aids Factory [Fabryka Pomocy Naukowych w Warszawie] in Warsaw.
A dated metal plaque is riveted to the base, and a knob allows the globe to be tilted between 0 and 90°. Scale: 1:30,000,000.
It is in good overall condition despite some light halos over the Atlantic Ocean and a dent in the lower part; nevertheless, it is a beautiful, imposing, and unusual globe.
