Signed, Raw Terracotta Sculpture Of A Reclining Female Nude, 1970s-1980s
Superb vintage handcrafted sculpture from the 1970s-90s or earlier, in unglazed terracotta with a matte finish, depicting a reclining female nude with her arms behind her neck and her pelvis turned. A unique piece of art, likely the work of a studio artist, student, or accomplished amateur sculptor, originating from Belgium. An expressive piece with raw, academic modeling, dynamic volumes, and a vibrant lifelike quality. A felt-tip pen signature underneath, "M.⌋ V.", awaits identification. Natural unglazed terracotta with a matte patina. 34cm maximum length, 8cm height, approximately 18cm width. Very good overall condition with a slight patina consistent with age. The left (front) foot has been recreated with a subtly redder and glossier appearance. Hollow interior. Approximately 1.1 kg.
