It rests on four chamfered feet, tapering to the sabots. It opens with two drawers and two pull-out slides framed by a gilt bronze band that echoes the bronze fittings and foliate ornamentation.

Charles Topino (1735-1803) was a French cabinetmaker who became a master in 1773. In 1745, he established himself in Paris, enjoying a great reputation in France and abroad, which earned him a clientele of noblemen and merchants. He also made furniture for other cabinetmakers such as Migeon and Boudin. During his career, he was also a supplier to the Royal Crown. He primarily produced small pieces of furniture such as tables or bonheur-du-jour cabinets, identifiable by his unique marquetry known as "usual objects" marquetry.
