Object description :

"Pair Of Louis XVI Gilt Bronze Andirons"
Pair of andirons depicting children warming themselves in front of a firepot. This pair of chiseled and gilded bronze andirons depicts two little cupids sitting on a natural mound and covered with a cape falling over their shoulders. They are holding their hands close to a brazier, placed at the end of each andiron, in the shape of a tripod cup with masks and goat feet from which flames emerge. The andiron rests on four fluted spinning top feet, decorated with a crown of acanthus leaves above the ball of the foot. A trimming joins the feet lengthwise. The connecting dice are decorated with a flower. A frieze of acanthus leaves tightens the andiron on the main scene.
