"Small Bronze Bust Of Henry IV As A Child Attributed To Fjborio "
Small bust of Henry IV as a child with a beautiful chocolate brown bronze patina. This bust rests on a small column, itself fixed to a marble base resting on a bronze plate. At the foot of the column, a yellow bronze ring contrasts with the reddish-brown bronze of the sculpture. François Joseph Borio created the King's bust in 1822 in silver; it is currently in the Louvre Museum. It was an official commission serving royalist propaganda, in the Troubadour style that would be so popular until the fall of Charles X. This small bust probably dates from the 1870s, when Henri de France, Count of Chambord, attempted to restore the monarchy. He would have been King Henry V had he not renounced it. It is a symbol of loyalty to the Bourbons. Careful worldwide shipping available.
