Daniel Cortes-Perez was a student of Joachim Sorolla in Valencia before settling in Paris. He then went to explore Algeria in 1901. He exhibited at the Salons of Algiers, Paris, and London. A very naturalistic artist who painted with thick impasto, reminiscent of painters like Léon Bonnat and Benjamin Constant, with whom he worked during his stays in Paris.
