"Porcelain Teapot – Empire Period, Early 19th Century"
Porcelain Teapot – Empire Period, early 19th century. An elegant white porcelain teapot decorated in grisaille with allegorical scenes inspired by Love. Each side features an oval medallion framed by a wide gold border, depicting neoclassical scenes accompanied by the inscriptions: "I want to spare you another crime" and "Beauty disarms sleeping Love." The mount is richly highlighted with broad areas of gilding: neck, foot, spout, and handle. The spout terminates in a stylized feline head, typical of the Empire style, reminiscent of antique models. The proportions are harmonious, with an ovoid body resting on a pronounced foot, characteristic of the first third of the 19th century. Good overall condition. Wear consistent with age to the gilding, particularly on the foot and neck. French work, Empire period, circa 1805–1820. A slight chip on the neck; when the lid is on, it is barely visible.
