"White Opaline Night Service – Charles X Period (1820–1830)"
White Opaline Glass Night Service – Charles X Period (1820–1830) This white opaline glass night service dates from the Charles X period. It comprises a circular tray, a long-necked decanter with its original stopper, a pouring flask, and two tumblers. The set is decorated with a delicate scattering of gilt stars, punctuated by fine gold lines highlighting the bases, rims, and contours. The restraint of the decoration, the regularity of the scattering, and the elegance of the proportions are characteristic of the Charles X style, still influenced by neoclassical aesthetics while hinting at a certain romantic lightness. In very good overall condition, with slight wear to the gilding consistent with use and age. A harmonious and decorative set, typical of bedroom services from the first third of the 19th century.
