This striking diptych depicts Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, presented in a vertical composition inspired by early Flemish altarpieces. Adam, on the left, stands in a restrained pose, gazing toward Eve, while she, on the right, holds the forbidden fruit, the serpent coiled around her arm as a symbol of temptation.
The stylized landscape, featuring a serene lake, swans, and lush vegetation, creates a quiet and timeless atmosphere characteristic of Belgian Symbolist painting of the interwar period.
The painted Gothic niches and integrated frames enhance the architectural quality and vi-sual strength of the composition.
