Fine hand-knotted silk rug from Qom, Iran, signed Shakeri.
This rug features a refined floral design arranged around a central medallion, framed by a wide, richly ornamented border in a deep palette of reds, ivory, and turquoise blue.
The exceptional fineness of the knotting—estimated at between 9,000 and 12,000 knots per square decimeter—attests to a particularly demanding workshop. Its surface area of approximately 2.77 square meters represents an estimated 2.5 to over 3 million hand-knotted knots.
The precision of the design, the perfect regularity of execution, and the exceptional quality of the silk give the rug remarkable luminosity and a strong decorative presence. Its creation required several years of work, reflecting the patience and mastery characteristic of the finest Qom workshops.
