"Zoomorphic Absinthe Pitcher"
Zoomorphic stoneware pitcher, a testament to the pottery skills of eastern France (likely Betshdorf or Ziegler type) from the late 19th century. This original piece depicts a dog, probably a poodle, whose head forms the spout and whose rounded body forms the belly.
Characteristics: Eastern France (Alsace/Lorraine). Late 19th century. Salt-glazed stoneware, decorated with cobalt blue. In excellent overall condition for its age (see photos for details of the glazing and patina).
