Former portrait of Emperor Napoleon III. The emperor is represented as a chimera, head of the sovereign and body of a pig. The sculpture is titled "Badinguet" Badinguet was the satirical nickname given to Emperor Napoleon III (his wife, Empress Eugénie, was nicknamed Badinguette). In 1840, Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte attempted a landing at Boulogne-sur-Mer, at the head of around fifty conspirators, to overthrow Louis-Philippe. Arrested, he was imprisoned at the fortress of Ham, in the Somme. On May 25, 1846, he escaped by borrowing the clothes and papers of a painter who, according to some, was nicknamed Badinguet.
