"Regency-style "confessional" Bergère Chair, Wingback Bergère, 19th Century"
A beautiful wingback armchair, also known as a "confessional" style armchair, in the Regency style. This large and comfortable armchair is richly and finely carved throughout. Delicate, stylized scrolls and acanthus leaves complement beautiful shells and vegetal motifs. Attention to detail is evident in each carving. A handsome X-shaped stretcher completes the elegance of the base, which terminates in hoof feet. Our armchair is in superb condition in terms of its woodwork. The upholstery is in good condition. It has a removable seat cushion. The thick, cream-colored fabric (woven wool-like) is in good condition but shows some signs of wear that would be completely removed with a light cleaning. Made in the second half of the 19th century.
