A rare and prestigious Sèvres porcelain service made during the reign of Napoleon III, commonly known as the ball service. This service was used at official receptions and balls held in the presence of guests at the Château de Compiègne and the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud. Each piece has on the reverse: a green mark, indicating the year of manufacture at the Sèvres Manufactory, and a red mark, corresponding either to the inventory year or the year of delivery to the imperial services.
