This portrait of a young man, painted around 1810/1820, is full of life and smiling, and remarkably well executed. The delicate complexions, the slightly tousled hair, the elegantly tied cravat, and the tailored frock coat with its wide lapels are all subtly suggested by a skillful brush. Relined some time ago, we have had the previous restoration cleaned and redone to ensure the most pleasing result possible.
