"Maffrash Shahsaven. Persian. Early 20th. 154 X 105cm"
A very beautiful fragment of a Shahsaven Maffrash from Persia. Originally, Maffrash were the largest carrying bags used by the nomadic populations of Persia and the Caucasus. They also served as prams once the camp was set up. Mixed technique: wool on wool. Weaving and embroidery (Sumak). Extremely fine and refined work; the motifs seem sculpted into the material. Make no mistake, this Maffrash represents the pinnacle of weaving excellence of the period. It is among the most precious objects, showcasing the full skill of the weavers. Early 20th century. Perfect condition. Dimensions: 154 x 105 cm. If you are, like us, impressed by the beauty of such objects, please contact us directly. Our collection includes more than one hundred Maffrash, both complete and fragmented. Laurent, Beauty of Kilims
