Fragment Of Hand-carved Stone From The 18th Century: Medusa

Fragment of carved stone on a custom-made black base. Dating from the 18th century. Depicts Medusa. Medusa is a figure from Greek mythology, known as one of the three Gorgons. Originally a beautiful woman, she was cursed by the goddess Athena and left with snakes for hair. Anyone who looked at Medusa would turn to stone. She lived in a secluded cave and was eventually beheaded by the hero Perseus, who used her head as a weapon. Medusa symbolizes danger, feminine power, and mystery, and remains a fascinating icon in art and literature.
