Early 20th-century Chinese rose quartz incense burner with lid.
This object is finely carved from a translucent, semi-precious hardstone with very light pink hues. These objects are traditionally associated with the early 20th-century Qing Dynasty. On the top of the lid, we can see the figure of a carved Pho dog, which in Asian mythology traditionally represents a guardian. On the sides are two carved handles shaped like dragon heads, which support two movable rings below that are also integrated into the sculpture. The central structure rests on four stylized legs and features geometric carvings and archaic motifs.
