"Pair Of Lxiv Candlesticks Engraved With A Bérain-style Decoration, France, Early 18th Century"
Pair of Louis XIV bronze candlesticks engraved with a reserve and lambrequin decoration known as "à la Bérain". A very attractive model with a molded circular base adorned with a gadrooned frieze, a turned and gadrooned baluster stem supporting a ringed candle holder also decorated with gadroons. They still have their original bobeches. The stems are cast using a shell casting technique, and the threaded assembly is hand-turned, both consistent with the period of manufacture. Classic yet still effective for complementing a period or style decor. This model is now quite rare to find as a pair, especially in this quality with such decoration. Very good condition. French work dating from the early 18th century. Note: Shipping possible within France via Colissimo with tracking and signature required: 20 euros. Other destinations upon request.
