A beautiful, finely chased gilt bronze clock. Aristaeus, a deity from Greek mythology, guardian of flocks and protector of the hunt, is depicted in shepherd's garb, wearing a petasos and carrying a sheep. An antique-style vase, spear, quiver, and bow are also included. The mantelpiece is decorated with a hunting horn, a wreath of flowers, a chariot, birds, and a boar. The enamel dial is signed Pierre Dupuis in Paris. The rectangular base features palmettes, scrolls, a mask, and heart-shaped motifs. The cylindrical feet are grooved. Circa 1810. Height 46 cm, width 35 cm, depth 14 cm. The mechanism has been serviced and is sold with instructions. Delivery is possible. https://www.antiquites-saintjean.fr
