A Louis XVI style mahogany console table, comprising a niche in the upper section and a door and drawer opening from the front. The keyhole escutcheons, fittings, and ornaments are in gilt bronze. The door is adorned with a braided brass panel and its original pleated silk curtain. The fluted uprights and legs have gilt bronze sabots. The marble slab on the top comes from the Saint Pons de Thommières quarry. It bears the stamp of Constantin Potheau, 14 rue Amelot, Paris (under the marble top and on the back of the cabinet). In perfect condition. Late 19th century (after 1894). Dimensions: Height 1.22m x Width 56cm x Depth 37cm. Constantin Potheau and his brother Georges took over the Charmois and Lemarinier company in 1881. They manufactured high-quality furniture, simple yet richly ornamented.
