Pair Of Candlesticks 19th Century Empire Style

An important and elegant pair of finely chased and gilded bronze candlesticks. Empire style, dating from the Napoleon III period, circa 1880. The cylindrical alabaster base is supported by a gilt bronze plinth adorned with beaded friezes and gadroons, ensuring a stable and visually harmonious base.

It supports a slender central stem, alternating smooth and fluted sections, embellished with decorative rings sculpted with acanthus leaves and floral motifs. The upper section features three scrolling candle arms, forming elegant antique-style volutes. Each arm is decorated with beaded friezes, palmettes, and stylized foliage, and terminates in a circular, gadrooned-rimmed candle holder. Each candle holder is fitted with its original, removable wax protector.

The pair presents an airy silhouette while maintaining perfect symmetry. In the center, a baluster element in alabaster, encircled with gilded bronze.
