Papier-mâché sculpture representing a devil with a moustache – probably Thirusti Bommai, the demon protector of houses; with a broad smile showing gap-toothed teeth shaped like tongues.
His bulging eyes captured the gaze of outsiders and helped ward off malevolent attention.
The braided headdress at the back of the head represents the devil's tail in his hair.
