St. Cyr Stitch Embroidery, Early 18th Century

A very fine early 18th-century Saint Cyr stitch embroidery depicting "The Return of the Prodigal Son," executed with exquisite delicacy and rendered in magnificent, nuanced colors. The scene is depicted with great detail, like a true painting. The embroidery is in remarkable condition and presented in a 19th-century gilt frame with numerous stucco chips (concealed by a tint), under blown glass. Overall dimensions: 47 x 43 cm. Visible dimensions: 30.5 x 26 cm.
