"Portrait Of A Man Dressed In Ottoman Style, 18th Century"
A fine oil portrait on canvas of a man dressed in Ottoman attire, probably by a Hungarian or Polish artist around 1740, reminiscent of the works of the painter Ádám Mányoki (1673-1757). He is depicted in three-quarter view against a brown background, seen through a trompe-l'oeil semi-oval opening (this is not a resizing of the canvas), wearing a shimmering green coat covered by a red cape with lovely gold trim, and carrying an oriental-style dagger with a jade hilt at his belt. The painting is of high quality and in very good condition. It is presented on his original canvas, in a contemporary but well-made gilt frame in the "Bérain" style, which is of high quality and in keeping with the spirit of the work. Overall dimensions: 88.5 x 71 cm. Canvas dimensions: 78.5 x 61 cm.
