"Painted Porcelain Pillbox – Port Scene"
A round, hand-painted porcelain pillbox with a domed lid, richly decorated and highlighted with gold. The lid depicts a lively 18th-century-inspired harbor scene, with figures in period costumes, quays, and boats, finely rendered. The whole is framed by a gilt rocaille decoration in relief, complemented by a scattering of small polychrome flowers. The joint between the lid and the body is emphasized by a gilt metal mount. The interior of the box is entirely gilt, reinforcing its character as a luxurious decorative object. Under the base, a mark painted in underglaze blue, featuring a stylized crown above a monogram, attributable to an unidentified Parisian decorating workshop.
