Signed and located lower left, titled on the back
Born in 1872, René Leverd was a student of his father, Léon Alfred, and later of the painter Franc-Lamy.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1898, then at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs, receiving several awards.
He also exhibited views of Paris and the provinces, primarily in watercolor, at the gallery of the renowned art dealer Georges Petit. These finely executed watercolors are treated with great sensitivity and precision, yet with a beautiful freedom of touch.
They contributed greatly to his success.
His works can be found in numerous museums, notably the Carnavalet and the Petit Palais in Paris.
