Madeleine Rouart "house In The Forest" Oil On Cardboard 38x46
Artist: Madeleine Rouart ( 1896 - 1986)
Madeleine Rouart (1896-1986)
Oil on cardboard 38x46 cm "House in the Forest" Circa 1950
Signed lower left.
The great-niece of Berthe Morisot, Madeleine Rouart grew up in a family close to the Impressionist movement.
Her grandfather, Henri Rouart, a great collector of his Impressionist friends' works, eventually devoted himself to painting.
It was quite natural that she began painting at the age of 13, encouraged by Degas, a close friend of her father.
She exhibited at the Bernheim Gallery from 1923.
Her painting, in the Impressionist tradition, both in its brushstrokes and subject matter, reflects her spontaneity and joie de vivre. Her works are colorful and full of charm.
