An artist accustomed to depicting scenes in Provence using the watercolor technique, Louis Montagné offers us here a rare, finely detailed view of Carry-le-Rouet. A pupil of Paul Saïn and Cormon, he entered the Salon des Artistes français in 1901, winning numerous awards in the process. He exhibited early on in Avignon with the merchants Kassler and Mouret, and during this period produced decorative panels in collaboration with the painter Paul Saïn.
