"treble England" Surveyor's Tape Measure, Leather And Brass, England, Circa 1920
A very fine antique surveyor's meter from the early 20th century, of British manufacture. This beautifully crafted object testifies to English expertise in precision tools. The circular case, with its robust grip, is covered in hand-stitched, deep brown leather, displaying an authentic patina and remarkable condition. It bears the cold-stamped markings: "TREBLE" (surmounted by the lyre logo) and "ENGLAND". Details and mechanisms: • Mechanism: Retractable solid brass rewinding crank, smooth and perfectly functional. • Tape: Original reinforced textile (linen) tape, with a brass pull end. • Capacity: 10 meters (marked "10M" on the crank hub). Condition: Excellent collector's condition. The leather is sound, the stitching is well preserved. The brass has a beautiful natural oxidation that can be polished or left as is to retain its historical character.
