Collected in Katanga (Belgian Congo) between 1952 and 1970 by Charles Mahauden, a Belgian colonial administrator nicknamed “Kisongokimo” by the Grand Chief of the Baluba and author of:“Charles Mahauden — Kisongokimo — Hunting and Magic Among the Baluba” — Paris — Flammarion, “L’Aventure vécue” series — 1965 — 252 pages

A Belgian colonial administrator and wildlife conservationist, Charles Mahauden lived in Katanga for over 40 years. He became famous for his close ties with the Luba people, his writings on their hunting traditions, and his collection of African tribal art
