A very fine polished solid brass marine padlock, dating from the 19th century. This "D-shaped" or swivel shackle model is characteristic of marine equipment for its robustness and resistance to salt corrosion. It consists of a straight crossbar and a movable curved shackle mounted on a sturdy pivot. It locks via a lateral pivot with its original key.
