Military Drum For The Rural Guard, Infantry, Or Sappers—19th Century—wood And Brass, With Drumsticks

A rare 19th-century military antique, this city drum consists of a cylindrical body and two drumheads held in place by period hemp braiding

Its structure includes a blackened wooden shell accented with brass trim, original leather straps fitted with metal buckles for wearing it on the body, as well as its two wooden drumsticks with brass-tipped ends

Once an indispensable tool for town criers and rural constables to gather residents for official announcements and municipal decrees, it is now a piece of cultural heritage primarily preserved in the collections of local museums

Beautiful, authentic patina from a bygone era
