Amsco Brand Shoe Polish Tin Piggy Bank, Circa 1950
Authentic Amsco (American Metal Specialties Corp) children's shoe-shining box and piggy bank, model "Kidd-E Shu-Shine Bank." This "educational" toy was designed to teach children of the time the value of work and money. A very representative Americana piece from the post-war era. This iconic 1950s item, made of red lithographed metal, features a charming design depicting children shining shoes. It served a dual purpose, functioning as both a shoe-shining station with its cast iron footrest (decorated with a star) and a piggy bank to encourage children to save. It is in good used condition with a lovely, authentic patina that testifies to its history. The graphics and red colors are still very vibrant. Its compact size makes it ideal for vintage decor or a collection of antique toys (tin toys).
